Ren Fest 2008

While we were in Texas we went to the Ren Fest (Renaissance). We've heard many things about it and how fun it is. So we were very happy that it was happening while we were there. On Saturday we got there around 11:30am and got to see the parade of all the people. They had awesome costumes. Then we headed over to the jousting tournament. We sat in the area that was rooting for the English team. Our guy won all the events. It's probably because he had such a supportive crowd. :) Then we walked around and tried some Fried Alligator. It was pretty good and no it did not taste like chicken, more like pork. We went over to the area where they have more shops and rides. Vii had to stop and take a picture with this guy. He rocked. Then we went over to the rides and we got to ride an Elephant. Vii , Nathan and I all got to ride on one elephant. It was pretty cool. I do have to say though i sure hope those elephants get paid well. They have to walk about fifty steps for each ride. As soon as you get adjusted on the elephant its time to get back off. Vii got to throw axes. He got three tries to make it in the star. On his second shot it landed perfectly in the star. The reward was a "Free Kiss Card". He could have taken it over and gotten a free kiss from a whench. Man he sure missed out. After that the guys went and shot Bow and Arrows and the kids went in a maze. Shelley and I really wanted to ride the "King Swing" so after the kids were done we went over and rode that. It held 6 of us. It was all done by hand. They hook the bench to a pulley and then yank on the rope and it lets you go. It was so much fun. Once you go through the initial shock then it is so relaxing. We had Shelley, Emily, Kale, Soren, Bailey and I on the the swing.

Trick or Treat

This year we spent Halloween with my sister Shelley's family in Houston, Texas. One of the nice things was the weather was so great that we did not need jackets or thermals or hoods or gloves or scarves. I actually was in a t-shirt and flip-flops :) You get the picture. It was nice and warm. Nathan was a cute Turtle. It was a little big, but he looked so cute in it. He did not love the idea of something being on his head, but after a lot of encouraging words to keep it on he did. Nathan got to actually wear his costume twice. On Thursday we went to a Trunk or Treat and then on Friday we did the actual house trick or treating. He slept through most of it. I finally got him out of the stroller and carried him so he would wake up. He still did not wake up and then i kept whispering in his ear "Look Nathan an Airplane" That finally did it. It was awesome to see so many children out Trick or Treating. Last year there was no one out in Utah.
(Maybe we should come to Texas every year.)
